Once again Australian Retaining Walls were called to replace and upgrade another failing timber retaining wall. This time it would be a Hand placed, Sandstone rock wall that would be selected as the best option as the clients loved the natural rock look. The Hand placed, Sandstone rock wall would begin at the rear of the house and continue down the side of the house where it would turn into the driveway retaining wall.
The side of this Carrara, Gold Coast Qld home had concrete pathways so this part of the Hand placed, Sandstone rock wall would be bedded onto the existing concrete with mortar to ensure the rocks could not slip forward.
Our clients also had concerns about the apparent lack of drainage behind this section as the ground here was soaked through. Australian Retaining Walls would install multiple 65mm drainage pipes in this section as well as creating a natural outlet with some strategically placed rocks.
The driveway section of this Hand placed, Sandstone rock wall would not require mortar underneath as the grass would be dug up and the base rocks would settle into the ground naturally. The entire wall would have the top course of the rocks or ‘the capping’ mortared down a level to complete this great looking Hand placed, Sandstone rock wall in Carrara, Gold Coast Qld.
