Australian Retaining Walls were called to this Southport, Gold Coast address to construct a Treated Pine log retaining wall between these two neighbouring properties.
The old wall had failed after 20 years or so and the owners wanted a similar wall as a replacement. You don’t see this style of treated pine logs wall around very much these days but the team at Australian Retaining Walls are happy to meet the requests of our clients whenever and wherever we can. Rather than use a single 200mm diameter post we put double 150mm diameter posts in for the strength we desired for a wall of this height.
Our digger was brought in to help demolish the old wall as it was made from huge logs which were extremely heavy even though most of them were at least partly rotted. After the site had been cleared the excavator was retained to auger the holes for the posts, some of the holes were 1.8metres deep! The posts are set in concrete and the Treated Pine logs are stacked up behind along with 20mm drainage gravel, geotextile fabric & ag pipe.
Finally, a 1.8m high Colorbond fence is installed above the wall. All posts are set in concrete, 600mm in to the ground and long sheets are cut to size and used on the raked part of the fence.
