Australian Retaining Walls were called in to this jobsite to discuss the best system for this new build in Upper Coomera, Gold Coast Qld. A decision was reached quickly with the Keystone Garden Wall concrete blocks deemed the winner for this Australian Retaining Walls project. Plenty of room to work for the guys on this project but deadlines have to be met and the terrible weather certainly didn’t help! Twice the site had to be pumped out by the guys after heavy rain created a large area of surface water along the front of wall.
Once the guys at Australian Retaining Walls got rid of the excess rainwater and were satisfied with the conditions excavation could begin. A machine was recruited and working from the building plans the embankment was shaved where required and a footing was dug.
Supplies arrived from the local landscape yard and construction could get underway. Firstly, a footing was poured and the Keystone Garden Wall concrete blocks were set into a bed of concrete. After the base blocks are levelled and plumbed to our satisfaction the rest of the blocks can be stacked on top. Our drainage system is installed as we go. Geotextile fabric is pinned to the embankment to prevent soil from penetrating through the blocks. A 65mm perforated drainage pipe is dropped in behind the base blocks and covered with 20mm drainage gravel and several outlets are put in place for water to escape.
No cap required for the Keystone Garden Wall concrete block system so when the desired height is reached the project is almost complete. Once the guys have graded the soil at the front of the wall and created a garden area ready for planting at the top of the Keystone Garden Wall then the job is complete. All on time before the builders arrive to start the house! Another satisfied customer for Australian Retaining Walls.
