Reedy Creek, B Grade Sandstone Boulders

Australian Retaining Walls were called to this large sloping block to assist our client in creating a usable garden for their new home. After surveying the area Australian Retaining Walls recommended a “B Grade Cut” Sandstone Boulder wall for this project. Australian Retaining Walls set about creating a two tier “B Grade Cut” Sandstone Boulder wall.

Australian Retaining Walls advised our client that as they had a lot of room, two 1 metre high “B Grade Cut” Sandstone Boulder walls was the best option. By keeping the walls to 1 metre high. Australian Retaining Walls helped our client avoid extra costs for planning permission and engineer fees.

Although access was great on this project in Reedy Creek, Gold Coast Qld, the sloping block was not the easiest to work on. After creating a flat platform for the “B Grade Cut” Sandstone Boulders (and the excavator!) Australian Retaining Walls construct the bottom tier. Working with a spotter, the excavator driver carefully places the “B Grade Cut” Sandstone Boulders in the desired positions.

Once the construction of the “B Grade Cut” Sandstone Boulder wall is complete Australian Retaining Walls installs a drainage system using 100mm drainage pipe and gravel with geotextile fabric separating the gravel from the soil.
