Australian Retaining Walls were called to this acreage property in Ormeau, Gold Coast Qld to help our clients utilize some of their land close to the outdoor entertaining area. A large sparsely planted garden bed would be sacrificed to create this double tiered Heron concrete block retaining wall with staircase. A 12 tonne excavator would be required to dig out and shape the landscape before Australian Retaining Walls could begin construction of this Heron concrete block retaining wall with steps.
The position of the staircase was the first thing to be established as this would also double up as the starting point for the long sweeping curve of the Heron concrete block wall. Nice long drawn out curves were achieved by careful placement by our skilled team of the bottom course of blocks, which we always lay in wet concrete.
Both walls would be limited to 1m in height to avoid incurring extra costly council fees and the staircase would blend perfectly through the middle of both Heron concrete block retaining walls. The blocks would be core-filled with gravel for extra strength and our tried and tested drainage system would be installed behind the wall.
Finally, Australian Retaining Walls will glue down the caps to provide the perfect finish to another project.
