Australian Retaining Walls were recruited to this Pacific Pines, Gold Coast Qld property to construct a Flush Face Garden Wall concrete block retaining wall next to a swimming pool. As you can probably tell there was once some large trees and shrubs planted alongside the pool. The roots from these trees were the main contributing factor towards the demise of the old wall. Very little drainage gravel and no geotextile fabric behind the old timber wall allowed soil and tree roots to penetrate the timber and cause it to rot quite quickly.

After discussing their options with one of Australian Retaining Walls experts the owners of this Pacific Pines, Gold Coast Qld property decided not to risk another timber retaining wall and instead went with a Flush Face Garden Wall concrete block retaining wall system. The concrete blocks have a slightly bigger footprint than a timber wall but it was decided that there was still plenty of room to accommodate the Flush Face Garden Wall blocks.

The Flush Face Garden Wall blocks are bedded into a concrete footing and then stacked 8 blocks high up to 1 metre tall ensuring no council permission was needed and architect fees are avoided. A 65 mm drainage pipe is installed behind the wall where it is covered in 20 mm drainage gravel with geotextile fabric pinned to the embankment to ensure soil particles do not penetrate the gravel and clog up the pipe with silt. The pool area is now ready to be tiled and landscaped adding considerable value to Australian Retaining Walls clients property.
