Flush face Garden Wall block wall & matching steps – Coombabah, Gold Coast Qld

Australian Retaining Walls were recruited to this Coombabah, Gold Coast Qld lakefront property for a full waterfront transformation involving new retaining walls, large paved areas, two new sets of steps and a raised garden bed. Charcoal coloured Flush face Garden Wall block wall with matching steps and paving was discussed and agreed by all parties to be the ideal material for this makeover.

The main thing our client wanted to achieve was to make the largely unusable sloping land in to somewhere they could relax and enjoy the views and great Gold Coast lifestyle with kayaking, fishing and crabbing. Eradicating having to drag the mower up and down the steps to cut the grass was something else our client was looking forward to!

Access to the lakefront of the property was limited to 850mm so our micro excavator was required to carry out the cut and fill style earthworks. The objective was not to have to remove any of the soil that was getting dug up and hopefully not to have to bring any fill in either, this is necessary to comply with the “GCCC Flood storage water compensation” bylaw. With some careful planning, both these objectives were met and we only needed a small amount of coarse river sand to lay the pavers on and concrete for the blocks and steps.

Some precise cutting was required around the boat jetty platforms and some creative building with the Flush face Garden Wall blocks took place so our clients could still have access to the shed and pool pump hut which was not matching the levels that were needed for this project to work.
