Concrete Sleeper Retaining Wall Ashmore

This was another typical case of a timber sleeper wall at the end of its effective life. This wall was around 20 years old, which had serviced their needs quite well up until recently.

While this wall was treated against termite attack with CCA Treated timber sleepers.

Eventually the same as all other timber walls it had failed. Termites had substantially eaten the wall and there was also some evidence of wood rot. One section had had a total collapse and more critical sections were extremely close to collapse. Had this wall been left any longer the repair would have been far more costly.

The client was quite clear that they did not want to use timber again for the new retaining wall. The client had already decided that concrete sleepers would suit them best.

This wall is approx 30 metres long x up to 1.4 metres high with a Colorbond fence recently installed to the top of the wall. Keeping the Colorbond fence intact during demolishen of the old wall provided a challenge to our team members. We successfully demolished the old wall and kept the fence on top intact during construction.

This concrete sleeper retaining wall will give the owners years of trouble free service with no more termite or wood rot concerns. Done right, done once, and constructed to last a lifetime.
