Our client got quite a surprise after the cut for their house pad was completed. They found that they would be requiring some major retaining walls that they had not planned for.
After the builder had cut the block for the house pad Australian Retaining Walls were called in for an appraisal and advice on what would be the most suitable wall for the site.
Australian Retaining Walls were consulted and after careful consideration of several suitable systems a boulder wall was found to be the most feasible at this site.
The client preferred the sawn sandstone look over the random boulder look.
We organised the design and liaised with builder and private certifiers to get the building application through promptly as to not delay the building program.
Once the wall had been approved we promptly swung into construction mode.
We used this 8 ton excavator, with rock grab during our construction.
We were able to get this wall in place relatively quickly once approval had been granted.
These walls go up very fast compared to more labour intensive hand built systems.
Our client was very pleased with the overall look of the wall. The builder was happy because we were able to get in and out of the site quickly and not hold up the building process.
This “B grade” cut boulder wall is approx 3.5 metres long x 18 metres long.
