Client Challenge
The client faced a significant challenge with a failing timber retaining wall that compromised the structure and aesthetics of their property in Arundel, Gold Coast. The existing wall's timber posts were rotting, threatening the integrity of the pathway it supported. The client desired a solution that maintained the natural timber look without encroaching further into a narrow pathway.
Our Solution
To address the problem, Australian Retaining Walls recommended replacing the old structure with a hardwood retaining wall reinforced with steel posts. This system is notably slim, with a total thickness of just 100mm, making it ideal for preserving space along the narrow pathway. The project included meticulous demolition of the old wall, precise installation of steel posts, and fitting of the hardwood sleepers, ensuring a robust and visually appealing structure.
Outcome
The installation of the hardwood retaining wall with steel posts resulted in a significant improvement in both the functionality and appearance of the client’s property. The wall's slim profile preserved the pathway's original width, while the robust construction ensured longevity and stability. The client was particularly pleased with the aesthetic appeal of the hardwood, which enhanced the natural look of their outdoor space.
