Client Challenge
The property owner in Bonogin faced significant erosion issues along the creek near their house, which was gradually undermining the embankments. Previous attempts at remedial work had failed, and the client needed a robust solution to stabilise the area. With ongoing erosion threatening the safety and aesthetics of the property, a reliable method was essential to secure the creek banks and prevent further soil loss.
Our Solution
We recommended a rock armour retaining wall, using the same high-quality rock used on major river frontages along the Gold Coast. Locally sourced from a nearby quarry, this rock armour was ideal for resisting the forces of water and protecting the embankment. Our 8-tonne excavator efficiently spread approximately 300 tonnes of rock over the vulnerable areas, while our PoziTrack moved rock down the creek bed to reinforce the banks. This solution provided a natural yet highly effective barrier against erosion, safeguarding the property from further degradation.
Outcome
The completed rock armour retaining wall successfully stabilised the creek embankment, effectively preventing further erosion and securing the landscape. Despite the potential risk of rain, which could have made the creek bed unworkable, we were fortunate to complete the project under ideal weather conditions. The property now boasts a resilient and aesthetically pleasing rock barrier, protecting against future water damage. The job was completed in one week, providing a swift and durable solution that blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
