Client Challenge
We were called to a rural property in Tallebudgera Valley facing a substantial landslip that threatened the stability of the land near their pool. The homeowners were understandably concerned about the impact on their property. Having previously completed similar remedial works for a nearby neighbour, we were able to demonstrate our expertise and gain the client’s confidence. Despite having an engineer’s design for gabion wall remediation, the client opted for our rock armour solution, which offered the same effectiveness at less than half the cost.
Our Solution
To address the landslip, we proposed using rock armour to stabilise the affected area. With our 8-tonne excavator, we carefully placed approximately 300 tonnes of rock within the slip zone, while our PoziTrack consistently fed rock to the excavator, ensuring efficient progress. This strategic placement of rock created a strong barrier against further erosion, restoring the integrity of the land. Our approach provided a robust yet cost-effective alternative to the originally designed gabion wall, offering the same level of stability at a fraction of the cost.
Outcome
The completed rock retaining wall effectively secured the landslip zone, much to the relief of the property owners. The quick and reliable installation provided peace of mind, especially given the proximity of the pool to the slip area. Our experience with similar landslip scenarios allowed us to deliver a targeted solution that addressed the immediate threat while reinforcing the property’s overall landscape. The project was completed within one week, demonstrating our ability to deliver quality results swiftly, even in challenging conditions.
