Client Challenge
The client received a council order demanding remedial work on her back boundary rock wall, with the directive to make the necessary repairs as cost-effectively as possible. The aesthetic appeal of the wall was not a concern for the client, as it was not within her view, but compliance with the council's requirements was crucial.
Our Solution
Australian Retaining Walls took on the challenge by proposing to demolish the existing wall and reconstruct it using the same rocks, this time incorporating an engineered design to ensure structural integrity and compliance with local regulations. After obtaining approval from our engineering associate and the local council, we proceeded with the reconstruction, facing unexpected challenges such as the discovery of large boulders that added complexity to the process.
Outcome
The reconstructed boundary rock wall not only met but exceeded the requirements set by the council order. The engineering design and careful construction ensured the wall’s stability and longevity, satisfying both the engineer’s specifications and council regulations. Despite the challenges encountered, the project was completed efficiently, providing a cost-effective and robust solution for the client.
Project Highlights
This project highlighted Australian Retaining Walls' expertise in handling regulatory challenges and constructing durable structures under complex conditions. The discovery and management of large boulders during construction required additional effort and skill, which our team handled professionally. The successful completion of the wall demonstrated our ability to navigate legal and physical challenges, resulting in a structure that met all necessary safety and quality standards.
