Client Challenge
The owner of a Gold Coast property was dealing with a 20-year-old timber sleeper wall that was near collapse due to severe termite damage and wood rot. One section of the wall had already collapsed, and other critical areas were at imminent risk. The situation was urgent, as delaying repairs could lead to significantly higher costs and potential damage to the surrounding landscape.
Our Solution
Australian Retaining Walls recommended replacing the compromised timber wall with a bush rock wall, known for its strength and longevity. Despite the challenges posed by limited access and working space, our team proceeded with the construction, ensuring the wall was built with mortared up joints and equipped with weep holes at the bottom to facilitate drainage and prevent water build-up.
Outcome
The newly constructed bush rock wall not only resolved the immediate risk of collapse but also significantly enhanced the structural integrity and aesthetic of the property. This solution provided a permanent, maintenance-free wall that the homeowner can rely on for decades to come, effectively mitigating the risk of future costly repairs.
Project Highlights
This project showcased Australian Retaining Walls' ability to handle complex challenges under constrained conditions. The bush rock wall serves as a testament to the durability and quality of workmanship provided by our team, ensuring that the wall is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The installation of weep holes and the use of mortar in the joints further guarantee the long-term stability and effectiveness of the retaining wall.
