Client Challenge
We were tasked with replacing an old hardwood sleeper wall at a retirement village in Nerang, which ran along the back of multiple units and had been in place for over 25 years. The existing wall was no longer safe, and the village required a new, modern solution to support the villas above. The project involved complex planning due to restricted access and the need for careful coordination with engineers and certifiers to meet all regulatory requirements. Our Solution
We constructed a Flush Face Garden Wall concrete retaining wall spanning approximately 100 metres in length and 1 metre in height. In some areas, we reinforced the structure with no fines concrete to provide extra stability where needed. Given the challenging access, we had to think creatively about our approach to both planning and execution. We managed all necessary approvals, engaging the block manufacturer's engineer for design validation and working with our private certifier to ensure compliance with local regulations. This approach streamlined the process and provided the owners with a complete solution from start to finish. Explore more about concrete retaining wall pricing.
Outcome
The new retaining wall provided the much-needed support for the villas, enhancing the safety and appearance of the retirement village. Despite the considerable length of the wall and the access constraints, the project was completed within two weeks, demonstrating our team’s ability to handle large-scale works efficiently. The residents were pleased with the result, knowing that the new concrete wall offers a long-term solution that requires minimal maintenance. The project reinforced our reputation for delivering quality concrete retaining walls in challenging environments.
