Client Challenge
The homeowners in Tallai, Gold Coast, needed to replace their old, failing timber retaining wall. Limited access down either side of the house and the location of the new wall at the bottom of the garden presented significant challenges, as the entire construction had to be completed by hand without the use of an excavator.
Our Solution
Australian Retaining Walls recommended the Flush Face Garden Wall concrete block system due to its durability and aesthetic appeal. Despite the limited access, our team proceeded with the project by manually transporting all materials. The old timber wall was removed without issues, thanks to the soft and easy-to-dig ground. A footing was hand dug out of the lawn, and the base blocks were set in wet concrete. The remaining blocks were then stacked, cut, and glued where necessary to ensure a secure and stable construction.
Outcome
The new concrete retaining wall was completed successfully, providing a durable and visually appealing replacement for the old timber wall. The hand-built approach allowed us to overcome access challenges and deliver a high-quality result that met the homeowners' expectations.
