Client Challenge
The homeowners in Labrador, Gold Coast, faced a rapidly deteriorating timber retaining wall and fence. The existing structures were not only an eyesore but also ineffective in preventing sand from the neighbour's garden washing onto their pathway during heavy rain. The clients needed a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution to address these issues.
Our Solution
After discussing various options, Australian Retaining Walls recommended a Flush Face Garden Wall block link retaining wall paired with a 1500mm Colorbond fence. This combination offered both durability and visual appeal, making it the perfect choice for the project.
Demolition and Preparation:
- Care was taken to avoid damaging the existing printed concrete pathway during the demolition of the old wall and fence.
- All old materials were carefully removed and placed in a skip bin for disposal.
Construction:
- The new retaining wall was designed to be high enough to prevent sand from the neighbour's garden from washing onto the pathway.
- A comprehensive drainage system was installed behind the Flush Face Garden Wall block retaining wall to manage water flow and prevent erosion.
- The Colorbond fence posts were concreted into the ground to ensure stability and longevity.
