Client Challenge
The Clover Hill State School aimed to enrich their students' education by creating a permaculture area. However, the challenge lay in the limited space provided by the existing onsite walls, which were not extensive enough to create a flat, usable area for the students to engage in permaculture practices.
Our Solution
Recognising the school's unique needs, we embarked on extending the existing keystone retaining walls during the school holidays. Our approach not only expanded the usable space but also integrated sustainability by reusing steel rails from another project. These rails were mounted on top of the new wall extension, adding both functionality and safety to the area.
Outcome
The extension of the keystone retaining wall was a resounding success, providing the necessary flat area for the school's permaculture project. With the added expertise of Gold Coast Permaculture consultants, the school is now poised to offer an enriching hands-on learning experience, focusing on sustainable agriculture and healthy food production.
Project Highlights
This project was a testament to our ability to deliver sustainable solutions and keystone retaining wall extensions. Working closely with the Clover Hill State School and Gold Coast Permaculture consultants, we achieved a functional and educational permaculture area. The use of salvaged steel rails highlighted our commitment to sustainability and added a unique feature to the project.
