Owners of this body corporate property wanted something new to replace the dilapidated timber walls in this large unit complex which was around 22 years old and at the end of their effective life.
These walls all had to be built by hand as it wasn’t suitable to bring machinery in that would have damaged the common & private yard areas.
After discussions and looking carefully at all options with the body corporate representatives and due to limited room a composite sleeper wall was decided to be the best option for a replacement walls. We also had to replace the old fences with new and reinstate gardens. For these walls we decided to use the 7mm hot dipped galvanised steel 100UC posts for the retaining walls. Then we used good quality hardwood fence posts for the fence and sank them down deep behind the new retaining walls.This can only really be done this way if the same contractor is building both the walls and fencing at the same time.
Unique features or challenges- Communication is key on these jobsites with dozens of owners to satisfy. We had to access all parts of this wall without machinery. It was a game of chess moving through the complex and making sure all details were completed to satisfy individual owners..
