Australian Retaining Walls were called back to this Robina, Gold Coast Qld property by a client of ours. We had replaced the wall at the other side of their house last year! Obviously happy with our work the first time around, Australian Retaining Walls were recruited to return and replace the decaying timber wall that was rapidly becoming dangerous on the opposite side of their home.
The passageway between the two properties is quite narrow so a Hardwood sleeper wall with galvanised steel “H Beam” posts was deemed the perfect solution as this system is the thinnest system available to us on the market at only 100 mm total thickness it left plenty of room to walk down the side of the house.
The height of the wall combined with the pressure on the wall from the neighbouring property meant that some extra strength would be required. Australian Retaining Walls deemed that the platypus anchor system would be installed within our Hardwood sleepers with galvanised steel “H Beam” posts wall.
This would require an excavator to drive steel rods with a specially designed spike attached to the rod deep into the embankment and the platypus systems hydraulics to pull the spike back out so it engages with the land. With the correct load tested and achieved on each anchor this wall would be going nowhere!
Note the 100mm for total thickness of wall.
When all the rods were in place each steel post would have a hole bored in to it for the rod to pass through and be secured. The posts would be set in the ground in concrete as usual and the hardwood sleepers would slip between the posts to create another successful Australian Retaining Walls project.
