Flush Face Garden Wall Concrete Blocks – Labrador, Gold Coast

Australian Retaining Walls were called to this Labrador, Gold Coast Qld property to replace the rapidly failing timber wall. The timber itself wasn’t too badly rotted with this wall but the posts had not been installed deep enough into the ground and the pressure from the embankment was pushing the wall over in some parts. We continually find these kind of poorly constructed walls on the Gold Coast and mostly replace them with a concrete block, in this case our client decided to go with the Flush Face Garden Wall concrete block system.

If you look at the picture above you will see that there is already a concrete pathway all around the house. Depending on the levels of the concrete it is occasionally possible to lay blocks directly on to the concrete using mortar. After checking levels with the laser it was advised that this would not be the best solution for this project as there was too much variation in the height of the existing concrete. Instead, the concrete was cut out to the desired point and the Flush Face Garden Wall concrete blocks were laid on a fresh concrete footing.

Australian Retaining Walls then installed our usual, tried and tested drainage system consisting of 65mm drainage pipe,20mm gravel and geotextile fabric.
