Broadbeach Waters, Heron Blocks

The main objective for Australian Retaining Walls on this project was to create two level areas. One adjacent with the outdoor entertaining area and one lower down adjacent to the pool area. Also covert a largely unusable area into two great playing/sunbaking terraces. The Heron Concrete Blocks with matching steps are also a fantastic feature in this client’s garden.

A lot of hard work was required on this project due mainly to the poor access to the back garden. All materials and equipment had to be brought in through the garage and a few fence panels taken out and reinstated on completion of the job. All in a day’s work for Australian Retaining Walls!

Another challenge on this job was matching heights. The Heron Concrete Block wall and steps at the top had to match the dining area deck. The lower Heron Concrete Block wall and steps had to match the pool deck. As you can see after some careful planning everything worked out perfectly for Australian Retaining Walls.

After laying our base Heron Concrete Blocks on a concrete footing we then stacked and core filled the rest of the wall. Every step also had to be laid on a concrete base for strength. A 65mm drainage pipe was outleted inconspicuously out the side of each wall with 20mm gravel used to backfill the walls. Both walls were kept under 1metre to avoid planning and council fees.
