Advance Town, Windsor concrete blocks

A common request for Australian Retaining walls is the replacement of old timber walls. Although timber walls are a more economical choice, updating to something like the Windsor concrete gives a more modern look and is extremely durable. In this instance, age & termites were the reason for this replacement. We concluded that a Windsor concrete block wall would be the best option for our clients.

This project has great access and plenty of room to work. This allowed Australian Retaining walls to move in swiftly and complete the demolition and removal of the old timber wall and build the Windsor concrete block wall.

Despite the great access there was still a couple of challenging aspects involved in this project. The large concrete well in the lawn dictated the curve of the wall to us and both ends of the Windsor concrete block wall had to tie in to the existing besser block walls.

After laying the Windsor concrete blocks on a bed of concrete we install our drainage system.

This involves laying a 65mm drainage pipe behind the wall with an outlet at each end and covering the pipe with 20mm gravel. We then pin geotextile fabric to the bank. This separates the soil from the gravel preventing the pipe getting clogged with dirt.

No caps are required for Windsor concrete blocks so once the blocks are stacked and the wall backfilled the job is complete. Another satisfied customer for Australian Retaining walls.
