Project Description

This home owner had just dug a new pool and was in need of walls immediately. After consulting with Australian Retaining walls it was agreed that an Adbri, Windsor concrete blocks, with matching paver steps would be the perfect addition to this Benowa, Gold Coast Qld property. With no old wall to remove and all the excavation already done things could move along swiftly on this project. First up for Australian Retaining walls was checking the levels with laser ensuring the bottom of the Adbri, Windsor concrete blocks would be 50mm below the pool coping as per specifications requested by the client.

The bottom Adbri, Windsor concrete blocks are set level on a concrete footing following the cut of the land, creating a beautiful curved retaining wall. After the concrete has set the rest of the Adbri, Windsor concrete blocks can be carefully stacked on top, stepping up with the land as required on this sloping block. A 65mm drainage pipe along with 20mm gravel are installed behind the wall for drainage and to prevent the build up of hydraulic pressure. Geotextile fabric will be pinned to the wall before the gravel is installed to prevent soil from clogging up the drainage pipe.

After the base of this Adbri, Windsor concrete block wall is laid, construction of the steps can get underway. A slightly different block is required for the steps as the Adbri, Windsor concrete block is not the ideal block for steps. As you can see the same textured face and the exact colour match help to blend the steps seamlessly with the wall and the charcoal paver is the perfect addition for the step treads.

Another great job from the guys at Australian Retaining walls
